The Board, in consultation with the Association’s management, pool operator, attorney, insurance provider, and other business partners, has been planning for contingencies that may arise in the community as a result of the spread of COVID-19. Based on advice that has been circulated by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the local Department of Health, we have forecasted some possible scenarios and current plans to deal with them. While we are excited that Missouri and St. Charles County will be moving forward with phased reopening of business operations, there is still grave concern about the risk associated with the spread of COVID-19.
Understandably, many are anxious to get out of the house and resume normal activities as the weather warms up, including the use of the pool. Accordingly, many states and municipalities are struggling with how best to reopen facilities such as pools, while maintaining a safe and healthy environment for pool patrons. Taking that into consideration, the General Assembly is currently in the process of working with the pool operator, health department, and attorney to develop a plan to open the pool for 2020, however, there are still several details that need to be finalized prior to moving forward with pool operations this season.
In addition, the Shire Lane competition pool will be undergoing pool resurfacing maintenance, which has been delayed due to the pandemic.
In light of the potential concerns related to pool operations, the General Assembly has made the difficult decision to tentatively postpone the pool opening until June 15th, 2020.
Please keep in mind, we are faced with unusual circumstances this year, and want to ensure that residents have a safe environment prior to opening the pool facility. Accordingly, we look forward to a 2020 swimming season, and will make additional announcements as information becomes available.
Lastly, the General Assembly will be streamlining the procedure for Pool Pass processing this season, and will be releasing a separate announcement early next week listing the details.
In the meantime, the General Assembly would like to remind all New Town patrons to continue to practice social distancing and take all precautions necessary to safeguard your health. Thank you in advance for your patience and understanding as we navigate the course of action for the phased re-opening of New Town facilities.
