The City’s dedicated snow plowing teams are prepared to clear New Town’s streets efficiently. Here’s what you need to know about snow removal in our community:
- Public Streets: All public streets in New Town will be plowed.
- Private 1-Ways: Streets in the Beach District, Civic Circle, and Civic Dr. are privately maintained and not plowed by the City.
- Regularly Plowed Alleys:
- North Canal Way Alley: West of Canal St. between Hempstead St. & North New Town Ave.
- South Canal Way Alley: West of Canal St. between South New Town Ave. and Arpent St.
- Hempstead Place Alley: South of Hempstead St. west of Canal St.
- Shutten Way Alley: East of Shutten St. between Hempstead St. and Galt House Dr.
- Hempstead Way Alley
- Additional Alleys: Snow removal in other alleys is determined by the snow operations management team based on the severity of conditions and after all public streets have been cleared.
