On Friday, March 22, the Pecan Tree located on Simeon Bunker Way was removed due to poor structural condition with multiple factors that could have resulted in the failure of the tree or tree trunk. Failure of the tree or the trunk could have resulted in significant damage to the surrounding homes and residents. Approximately 1/3 of the diameter of the tree did not have roots anchoring the tree. There was a basal cavity extending up the tree to approximately 12 feet. Regretfully, based on the inspections of several arborists, the tree had to be removed for safety reasons.
